Valentine's day! Well, not really, but that's what mother nature wanted to grace us with in Utah - more snow! It seems like every weekend we wake up to white outside, and sidewalk salt up the wazoo! (our apartment complex likes to overdo it a bit) At least we know we'll never slip and fall :)We have our own traditions for this special commercialized little holiday, which include baking a heart-shaped something-or-other in the morning. (This year it was banana bread)
Then we spend the day together, and maybe order pizza for lunch or dinner. Pizza is a tradition that started last year, and I think we'll keep it going. Other than heart-shaped things and spending some quality time, we don't do the traditional cards/flowers/chocolates thing. I'm fine with being surprised with those things randomly throughout the year instead!But I did get a nice little surprise this year - my Motorola phone that I inherited from Amos was about one-and-a-half years old, with a battery lifespan comparable to that of a fruit fly. But (surprise!) on the way down to Provo we stopped by the store and got the cute tiny Nokia phone I've had my eye on for ages. It'll last me a long time, and it even comes with Guitar Hero on it, free!
We finished off the afternoon in Provo hanging out with our friends who just found out they are having a baby boy in July. (Congrats guys!) We had a great homemade dinner, and played some fun games. Then for dessert we had some jell-o with whipping cream and "It's a boy!" brownies (mint brownies with the mint flavoring colored blue [for boy] instead of the traditional green.) I made that up a few days ago when I was feeling festive.Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!
