Beach Vacation with a Surprise!

Last Saturday I headed with my family down to Kiawah Island, SC for our annual vacation. This year we also were joined by both sets of my grandparents for some extra fun. It was just me, since Amos couldn't make it due to his work schedule. The weather was great and we saw alligators, crabs, dolphins, sand dollars, egrets and all kinds of other wildlife as usual.


The temperature and weather were great, and we had a lot of time to relax and get some sun. I used every opportunity I could to tell Amos how much he was missing out.

Tuesday night I went to sleep fairly late, around 11:30 but was woken up in the middle of the night by Amos walking into my room surprising me!! It was dark so I was having trouble actually believing it was him, since I thought there was NO WAY that he'd be able to make that happen. I had even talked to him earlier in the day and knew which airport he was at, so I checked online and there were no flights at all to Charleston from that airport and TWO flights to Detroit. Not to mention, even though I had been REALLY hoping he'd have a surprise up his sleeve, I knew that he'd have to call me to get him or at least tell him where we were staying. I'd given up.

Well, it turns out my parents were in on the surprise and my dad went to pick him up and was able to sneak out when I was asleep on the couch. Everyone in the house, including my grandparents knew his secret and no one let it spill at all. I was shocked! I finally believed it was him once I felt his face in the dark. I was so asleep I couldn't even tell it was him by the way he spoke. Best surprise ever :) Especially since I had really been hoping we'd have a chance to get away just one last time before the baby comes. We had a great rest of the week...

He worked hard still...

But we had fun too!

I got to lay on my stomach for the first time in quite a few months! Sand is great!

Explaining to the Grandparents why smartphones are awesome

We stayed in a beautiful beach house that my mom found. Amos and I even had our own loft living room and bedroom. We got lots of bike riding in, the meals and snacks made by mom and the grandmas were delicious, it was fun catching up with my grandparents, and we all came back tan and relaxed. Thanks for such a great vacation! And for the surprise!
