His work schedule had him in Canada on his actual birthday, but the dealership he was working with surprised him with his very own personalized cake! Quite a rare gesture considering the industry - needless to say, he was impressed. He said the Canadians were nice, friendly people that he enjoyed working with.
Then he managed another travel surprise, getting home from that trip a day earlier than originally planned (Friday night instead of Saturday night) so that we were able to spend Saturday together relaxing, watching Australia in the World Cup, and going to his new "favorite" store, Lowes. "Favorite" being a relative term for the store we most find ourselves leaving with a full car and an empty wallet. I've mentioned how much he loves his lawn and his garage, and this time it was a garage trip. He put some storage shelving up and is getting ready to hang the tools, but I digress...For his birthday this year he requested his Mum's famous Pineapple Cream Pie that I have been terrified to make, because myself and all my sisters-in-law know all too well that you can never make it "as good as Mum does." Nevertheless I did try, and we had it for dessert on Sunday after one of his other favorite meals, Spaghetti Casserole. He said I got pretty close, turns out I just need to work on my meringue making a little bit and we'll be good to go.

Then, later that evening some good friends of ours told us they had made a birthday cake and wanted to celebrate, so off we went to spend some good times yet again.
He also received many thoughtful cards and gifts from dear friends and family. Thanks everyone for helping to make sure Amos had a special birthday this year!!
