7 months!

Cambria's growing up! I feel like she becomes less of a baby and more of a little person each day.

  • She likes to do head, shoulders, knees and toes. I do the motions and sing for her.
  • She is forming her own opinions and is not afraid to make them known. She doesn't really enjoy getting dressed any more, and she HATES getting her nose wiped and sucked if it's runny. Also, if she's enjoying playing with a toy and you have to take it away she has a huge fit. My dad made the mistake of letting her look at the aquarium on his ipad while we were stopped on a car ride, and when we had to get going and there was no one there to hold it for her she screamed and screamed until I got in the back with her and let her play with it again
  • She has started turning the pages when we're reading a book if I lift them up for her a little bit
  • During her photo session she was very aware of the large round sticker I put on her onesie, and would not stop playing with it and ripping it off. It made for an interesting time. I couldn't stop laughing at her fascination and perseverance.

  • She takes 3 naps a day usually. Morning, early afternoon, and sometimes a late afternoon nap before her bath, bottle & bed at 7.
  • She loves being thrown in the air and tossed around every which way. It gives her the giggles.

  • She likes to play with and grab my hair and earrings.
  • She holds herself up on her arms and will scoot if you bend her legs for her. Shouldn't be too long before she is crawling.

  • She sits up and plays, but usually is ready to be picked up in 15 minutes, UNLESS she is in her favorite spot on the window seat looking at the snow, observing the happenings, and playing with the strings of the blinds (don't worry, I watch her closely!)

  • When she wants to be picked up she will hold her arms out wide to reach for you
  • She has her two bottom teeth

  • When she is waiting to be lifted out of her crib or out of her carrier she will wave her arms and legs wildly with a very eager look on her face
  • Her favorite veggie is carrots and favorite fruits are pears, apples, and bananas
  • She stays very clean between all the baths and showers she takes. She loves them!

fill 'er up Mom!

uh oh...

hey, why did you make it stop?

Some more I did from her 7 month photoshoot:

Atlantic City

Amos had to work in Atlantic City last week. He got a screamin' deal on a villa with 2 king bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room with a tv, dvd player, and fireplace, a full kitchen, and even a washer/dryer. So...Cambria and I got to come along!

The other consultant's wife also got to come, so we spent our time during the day exploring Atlantic City and the casinos, boardwalk, and pier. Cambria loved all the adventures.

It'sSugar

Our room had a jetted tub, so after a careful re-cleaning she got to enjoy it. Eventually I filled it up all the way and she loved it. It was hard to get her out.

There was a pool, so Cambria got to go swimming for the first time. She loves water.

All ready to go

SO

MUCH

FUN!

All-day Date

Thank goodness for Grandparents! Cambria had a fun day getting doted over while Amos and I had a chance to get out and have some time to ourselves.

We got an early start and headed to the lovely DC temple together.

Then we met up with our friend Nate to wander around the DC auto show. Cadillac was showing a pretty neat concept car, but unfortunately not a lot of concept cars ever get produced.

Ford was showing a lot of cars and I saw a color I've never seen before. It's sort of a melted butter yellow. I'm not a fan. Then there were the lime green cars which aren't too bad. Another one of Ford's was a fuscia color. It reminded me of nailpolish. I wonder if I'll see any of those out and about on the roads.

Then after we were done at the auto show we walked right down the street to Nando's.

I was really excited a few months ago when I found out there was one in DC since I didn't realize they had them in America and Amos loves Nando's like I love Cafe Rio (well, maybe I am getting a little carried away with that analogy, but it's close). It's a South African peri-peri place. We had a nice dinner, headed to Nate's for a bit, and then back home to our little sleeping munchkin and the stories of her day's adventures.

Half Birthday

  • She has her two bottom front teeth. She's been whiny lately due to the teething but I can usually get her to quiet down by singing to her softly.
  • She eats baby food now. She's had carrots, bananas, sweet potatoes, pears, and peaches - which are her favorite. Peas, not so much. She spits them right back at me and looks at me like "are you crazy mom?"

  • She loves to swing her arms up and down and pat/bang things. I think I'm going to start calling her BamBam.
  • She loves to stretch and reach for things just out of her grasp
  • She loves to play with curtain strings. It seems like she grasps them better with her left hand. Do we have another lefty in the family?!

  • She opens and closes her hand to feel textures like the leather sofas, the wicker blinds, her pillow pet, and pretty much anything else.
  • She plays with my jumping jack toy and loves to make him jump
  • She is very ticklish on her thighs and collarbones
  • She rolls from her back to front all the time on her play mat
  • She enjoys playing in her jumperoo bouncer

  • She takes her pacifier out and then waves it around like a toy and puts the plastic part back in her mouth to chew on. Then if she wants to suck on it again she takes it back out and twists it around until it goes in the right way.
  • She sometimes wiggles her hips when she kicks her legs. I call it her sassy strut.
  • She sits up on her own, almost well enough to be unsupervised. Every once in a while she'll tip over so I still stay near her.

I love this hat!

G Reunion

While I was home we got to have dinner with my college roommates. It was great to see everyone again and catch up!

Introducing Baby Boy!

He should be here on or around July 1. We're excited! Here was Cambria's reaction when she found out:

In case you didn't catch that, it was "Wowwwwwww!"

Merry Christmas!

We had a great visit in Maryland with my family. We got to relax and enjoy some good company and good food. Cambria was excited and woke up at 3, but we got her to go back to sleep (sort of) until about 6:30.

She started out her day watching the Grinch for the first time.

Then it started to snow, so her first Christmas was a white one.

Then she got to open up most of her presents before the adults even got to our stockings!

When she went down for her morning nap we all ate cinnamon rolls for breakfast and then opened our stockings. Amos surprised me with a new DSLR camera! I have wanted one for ages to take more creative shots. However, I think in the future Amos and my parents will coordinate better since they both had the same idea and got me a camera as well. Everyone knows how great it is to have continuous shooting and hd video when the little munchkin is growing up :)

Then the last present of the day was given:

It looks like just candy bars wrapped poorly, but upon further inspection...

"To Mimi & Geepy, Love Cambria AND Baby #2!!"

Amos brought some of his Christmas traditions and made apricot balls and chocolate balls as well as his traditional lamb chops for Christmas dinner.

We did some rootbeer sampling in shot glasses.
