A Week at the Beach

We had a chance to relax and spend time at the beach. The beach isn't quite the relaxing experience that it used to be (getting a little girl covered in sunscreen, changed into a bathing suit, fed, and all ready to go to the beach all before the next naptime) but it was still much more relaxing than day-to-day life since there were doting grandparents and great-grandparents around to help with everything.

It was *so* fun watching Cambria experience the beach for the first time. She was fascinated, and not timid about wandering into the tide. Some days she would rather sit and play with (and eat) the sand, and other days the ocean was the place she wanted to be.

She got to explore to her heart's content, and played with shells, broke apart a sand dollar, and even met a crab!

We always rent bikes to ride to and from the beach, so this year we got a bike with a baby seat for Cambria. It was great! She loved it! My favorite part was watching how excited she got once she was riding around. And she was absolutely adorable with the helmet on her little head holding the handlebars. If you reached back to touch the handlebar she would bat your hand away.

Amos had a lot of trouble getting to the beach this year. His flights were getting cancelled left and right due to mechanical issues but he finally made it on Wednesday night at 2am. He had a pretty good remainder of his week until we were sitting out on the beach one day and a seagull flew over him and dropped a load. I captured the moment on camera for all to see. Guess that's why it pays to sit under an umbrella!
